DURHAM-based insurance disruptor honcho, due to launch in early 2019, has unveiled an access programme as a key stage is passed on their way to launch.

With the honcho reverse-auction marketplace app now completed, the insurtech innovator has now moved into its final testing phase and has announced that it will be allowing a selection of the public to test the new app.

Initially, investors in the crowdfunded business have been invited to take part in early alpha testing of the honcho service, however, due to the high level of interest in honcho from the wider public, the company is providing further phases of early access to their service.

Chief digital honcho Graeme Stoker said: “In order to be able to give all of our early customers a great experience and manage the large volume of early demand, we need to phase and prioritise access during our early stages, so we’ve created the honcho VIP early access programme.”

Honcho said it will change the way that consumers buy car insurance in 2019. It will be charging insurers £1 to bid for the consumer’s business with insurers bidding downwards against each other to win their new customer deal.
