A YOUNG girl has hosted a party for school friends with her own ‘I’m a Celebrity’ style challenges.
Pupils from Burnopfield Primary School retrieved toy spiders from cream pies using only their mouths, held snakes and ate worms and dog food, or dyed spaghetti and refried beans.
The idea came from six-year-old Thea Caine, from Burnopfield, who has now raised over £2,000 for wildlife charities this year.
The Big Bug Bash was held on Saturday and earlier this month her mum Cheryl Nicholson took part in a fire walk for charity.
Ms Nicholson said: “Thea is passionate about wildlife and while making a bug hotel asked, Mummy why do so many people not like bugs?
“They are so amazing and important. She’s absolutely right, so we decided to fundraise and raise awareness for Buglife.”
Thea’s latest campaign follows her fundraiser for the big cat charity, Born Free, earlier in the year.
She said: “I love bugs and want to help them, little things can really make a big impact on our world.”
