A FOOTBALL club is holding a taster session to see if it can set up a team for players with disabilities.

Shincliffe Juniors, which plays at Maiden Castle, on the outskirts of Durham, and at Soccarena, in Belmont, wants to start a new football team.

Club chairman David Glover said: “I don’t think there are any clubs in the city of Durham that offer disability football.

“Our ethos is to be inclusive and that’s the most important thing to us.

“We want to provide opportunities for people to come along and play and enjoy it and reach their potential. We want to inclusive so that should be inclusive of everybody.”

The club currently has about 170 members, 16 teams and caters for children from the age of four.

Anyone with any kind of disability is welcome to attend the taster session on Sunday, November 11.

It takes place at Soccarena, on the Belmont Industrial Estate, and starts at 10am.

People are welcome to turn up on the day or can contact Mr Glover by emailing shincliffejfc@aol.co.uk or calling 07917 356064.
