THE detailed plans for 170 new homes to be built as part of a new business park development have been submitted.

Persimmon Homes is developing the site at Integra 61, near Bowburn and has submitted a planning application to Durham County Council.

Planning permission has been granted for up to 270 houses on the site, which is close to Durham services, at junction 61 of the A1(M).

The scheme would be made up of 30 two-bedroom homes, 70 three-bedroom homes and 70 four-bedroom homes, the majority of which would be detached or semi-detached, which Persimmon says reflects the demand for homes in the area.

The development includes car parking for 275 vehicles, with a mix of single and double driveways, as well as visitor spaces.

It is proposed the houses are built during the second phase of the development of the £170m Integra 61 project, which also includes industrial units, offices, a hotel, shops, gym, care home, pub and GP surgery.

Details of the remaining 100 houses to be built as part of the Integra 61 scheme will be put forward as part of a separate application.

A statement by Persimmon Homes said: “ This development shall be in-keeping with the existing character set by the surrounding residential areas of Bowburn, taking specific influence from Persimmon Homes’ recently completed development within the village.

“Through the use of traditional building materials the scheme shall achieve a level of complementary appearance.”
