CHILDREN have buried a time capsule under the floor of a new extension to their schools.

The building project is going on at Framwellgate Moor Primary School, in Durham, to create four new classrooms and a nursery.

Children at the school have now buried a time capsule under the floor of the extension with the hope of making sure their childhood experiences are remembered in years to come.

The children’s time capsule, which contain memories about life in the school, their favourite lessons, experiences and teachers, will be buried under the corridor that links the infant and junior schools.

Headteacher Bethan Smith, said: “The time capsule project has been a really fun and enjoyable experience for the children in the school.

“We are all looking forward to our working and learning in our new school building.”

The extension is being built by Durham County Council’s Direct Services and is due to be completed by March 2019.

Work has started on the sire, with the steel frame which forms the classroom extension in place.

Upgrades are also being made to the existing buildings including a replacement heating, fire alarm, and lighting systems, new windows, and new ceilings.
