AN organisation which works to support youth groups and clubs in the area has held its annual awards evening.

The Durham Association Boys and Girls Club (DABGC) held the event at Ramside Hall Hotel, on the outskirts of Durham, to celebrate the achievements of young people.

The organisation was marking its 85th anniversary.

President Frank Nicholson said: “A huge thank you goes especially to all the young people from Durham Association Boys and Girls Clubs who made the night a huge success, and congratulations to all our winners.

“We must also thank Ramside Hall Hotel, and all our other supporters, who have helped make our 85th anniversary awards into a really special event.”

Among those receiving awards was the Cheesy Waffle Project, which is based in Belmont, and boxing coach Graeme Rutherford, from Birtley ABC, who received a special award for coach of the year.
