WORK has started on a new skate park for a village.
Young people in Ludworth first came up with the idea for a new skate park in 2014, when they approached their county councillor to ask for a new facility.
Work has now started on the park, which has been funded by councillor Lucy Hovvels, Durham Area Action Partnership, Sport England Community Asset Fund and Shadforth Parish Council.
Cllr Hovvels said: “I am delighted to see the new skate park facility get underway in Ludworth.
“We all know there are many benefits of such a facility including free physical activity for those not interested in traditional team sports. The skate park will provide a safe and challenging place for skaters of all levels and abilities.
“By the end of this month Ludworth will have a new skate park for young people and families to enjoy. My thanks to all who have been involved in the development of the community project. I look forward to the official opening in October.”
The project is being managed by Groundwork NE & Cumbria.
