ADVICE on fighting crime is being given at a series of roadshows next month.

Police and other organisations are working together to offer practical tips and information on preventing crime and staying safe.

Residents will be able meet Jet and Ben, the police dogs, get child car seats safety checked, get advice on how to stay safe online and home safety advice, try on emergency services uniforms and see emergency vehicles as well as pick up free home security devices for their homes.

The roadshows are place between 3pm and 7pm at Langley Park Primary School on October 2, Esh Winning Primary School on October 10 and St Joseph’s RC Primary School, Ushaw Moor, on October 17.

John Jameson, chairman of the Mid Durham Area Action Partnership community safety task group said: “The aim is to educate, not just children, but their families and the wider community to improve safety, especially as winter approaches. I hope those who attend find the sessions useful and learn more about how to keep themselves and their families safe.”
