A YOUNG boy has raised more than £2,000 for the special school he attends by completing a sponsored run.

Nine-year-old Harry Mortemore, who is autistic and a pupil at Durham Trinity School, took part in the 5km challenge in Scotland.

His father David, also charity fundraiser for the school, said: “He handled the crowds and event brilliantly, which is partly thanks to the help from the school.

“This would’ve been unimaginable only two or three years ago.

“Every penny raised will really help the children at Trinity who don’t have things as easy as most.”

Mr Mortemore, of Langley Park, the event, ‘dubbed Harry Rocks the Loch’ has raised over £10,000 over the last few years, by running three marathons, doing a coast-to-coast bike ride in a day and completing five Great North Runs.

Harry completed the River Ness 5km run, part of the Loch Ness Marathon, on Sunday.

His dad added: “This is such a huge achievement which, despite his disability, he has done this smiling all the time, and it will really help other children with the money he has raised.

“He has proved that nothing is impossible.”
