ORGANISERS of a community fireworks show have promised this year will be the biggest ever.

Chester-le-Street Cricket Club is holding the special Bonfire Night to celebrate its 30th anniversary of staging the event.

The club has held a fireworks celebration every year since 1988 and this year promises to be ‘the most spectacular yet’.

The showstopper event will take place at the club on Ropery Lane on Saturday November 3.

There will be a bar, a marquee for food, luxury hot drinks and fairground rides for youngsters, from 4.30pm, followed by the fireworks display at 6pm.

It will be run by volunteers and welcomes families from across the region.

Committee member of Chester-le-Street Cricket Club Mark Burdon, said: “Our fireworks display is something we look forward to each year and we wanted to celebrate our 30th event with a bang.

“We see the event as the perfect way to bring the whole community together and welcome people from across the region to celebrate our 30th year with us.”

Entry on the door is £5 adults, £3 kids, free admission for children two and under. There is a £1 discount on all ticket booked in advance via the club website.
