WEST End stars, popular pantomimes and award-winning tribute acts are just some of the cultural treats in store at a community theatre.

The Empire in Consett is gearing up for its autumn and winter season of live music, theatre, comedy and more.

Music fans can look forward to performances by artists such as Marty and the Wildcats who will take to the stage on September 15.

Other stars lined up to entertain include X Factor winner and musical theatre star Joe McElderry on November 10; the Brit Award-winning vocal trio Blake on November 22; and soul legends The Drifters on Friday, March 15.

Tribute acts include T-Rextasy on September 21; UK Pink Floyd Experience on October 6; and Sweet Caroline, featuring Gary Ryan as Neil Diamond, on October 20.

Other highlights include the Russian National Ballet’s Swan Lake on November 3; Britain’s Got Talent winner The Lost Voice Guy on October 21; and This is The Greatest Show, a musical extravaganza featuring a cast of West End singers performing songs from popular musicals on September 18.

The festive classic, A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, is brought to life on November 23, this year’s pantomime, Beauty and the Beast, runs from December 1 to 31.

Theatre spokesman Nicola Dailly said: “We have a packed programme in store. With so much variety on offer, I’m sure there will be something to suit all tastes and ages.”
