TWO students from east Durham have secured a place in the British Barbering Association’s National Student Barber 2013 final.

Ben Anderson, 24, from Peterlee, and Beth Rose, 19, from Shotton, who attend East Durham College, have both made it into the final 10 to compete in the trends category.

The two Level 3 barbering students will now travel to Cardiff on Sunday May 12 May for the BBA’s barbering exhibition event, Barber Connect.

They will take part in numerous workshops before the winners of the student awards are announced.

A place in second or third will see the students pick up trophies and certificates along with products from Jack Dean and Denman with the winner of the category picking up a £500 prize.

Barbering tutor at East Durham College, Alison Scattergood, said: “This is fantastic news; it’s great to see both Ben and Beth make the final 10.

“The students have done amazing to get this far and achieve what they have already to make it to the final 10 but will be even more amazing if they make the final three.”
