THE Liberal Democrat group on Newcastle City Council has chosen Anita Lower to succeed David Faulkner as its leader. Councillor Lower is the first woman to lead the group. She has been a councillor for nearly 20 years and served on the executive for six years. The changeover will formally take place on Wednesday, May 22.
