SHOP workers have been helping to create a new garden at a village primary school.
Staff from Wilkinson’s, at The Gates shopping centre, Durham City, gave up their time to help plant and build a new garden at Langley Park Primary School, near Durham.
Store manager Richard Mclean, who was one of those taking part, said: “Everyone involved in the project said the experience was really rewarding, as it felt like we were making a difference to the school’s learning environment.”
Headteacher Michael Gardener said: “We’re incredibly grateful to the Wilkinson’s team for volunteering their time to help create such a great outdoor learning space.”
Volunteers from East Durham College Princes Trust have also been involved.
The school expects Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, to officially open the garden later this month.
