PUPILS have raised hundreds of pounds for charity by donating small change from their lunch money.
Students raised £430 by donating small change from their purchases at Hurworth School Maths and Computing College canteen during last year.
The pupils decided to give the cash to four animal charities - the World Society for the Protection of Animals, the People's Dispensary for Sick Animals, Blue Cross and the Dog's Trust.
It was the fifth year pupils have collected money for good causes in this way.
The scheme was initially put in place by Ann Jackson, who has now retired, and is now organised by Meg Leigh.
