AN 8-YEAR-OLD Darlington girl who raised money by running a marathon during lockdown is now set to be handing out Christmas hampers to the elderly.
Lilly Israel, from Darlington, is running a campaign to make 150 Christmas boxes for the elderly.
Lilly has also managed to get into contact with hospitals to help supply hampers to any elderly people who may be in hospital over Christmas.
Barry Israel said: “This idea came on after her first idea, she started doing about the second world war at school, and how there was a shortage of food and things like that.
"She asked us is there still people like that now and we said yes and she was away with the idea."
“We are dead proud of her and she is really excited about it which is a good thing. We initially went for 100 boxes but we were getting close to that quite quickly so we’ve upped it to 150.
