WORK to resurface a town centre car park and improve the drainage has now been completed.
Abbott's Yard, in Darlington, which has been closed since June, reopened today following six weeks of work on its drainage system.
It was resurfaced and repainted this week.
The layout of parking spaces has been changed, but all 22 disabled spaces have been retained.
Councillor Andy Keir, cabinet member for local services, said: “Abbott’s Yard is our most central car park and provides good access to shops and facilities in much of the town centre so I’m pleased to say that the refurbishment of the site has gone to plan and it will reopen this week.
“The refurbishment has given us the opportunity to improve the layout of the spaces across the site to provide better access for drivers.”
Parking remains free in all council-run car parks and on-street parking spaces around the town centre.
