A SCHOOLBOY has been trying to bring a smile to his friends' faces after recording a video of him and his mum singing a popular Disney song with a message.
Alfie Webster, from Darlington, and his mother, Tanya Webster, did their version of The Bare Necessities, from the Disney film of The Jungle Book, to encourage people to stay at home where they can.
Ms Webster, who used to be a musician, said: "We did it for a bit of a joke really. Alfie wanted to put it on Facebook and it started getting shared and getting comments.
"He said he just wanted to make people smile and it seems to be working.
"He loves singing and dancing and Disney. We saw a meme on Facebook saying people should only go out for the 'bare necessities' which he thought was funny. It's an important message and we're just trying to cheer up as many people as possible."
The eight-year-old is a pupil at Mount Pleasant Primary School.
The video has been watched more than 8,000 times and dozens of people have 'liked' it on Facebook.
