MORE residents aged over 50 will be able to have free energy-saving equipment installed in their homes thanks to a charity's extra funding.
Age UK North Yorkshire & Darlington has been provided with funding to provide an additional 50 homes with energy saving equipment for over 50s in Darlington after teaming up with energy provider EON, fitted for free by a handyman.
The charity can provide and fit radiator foils, LED light bulbs and draft excluders to help prevent heat loss and reduce home running costs.
Installers can also provide cold alarms that can warn homeowners when the temperature in the home drops to unsafe levels.
There are limited numbers of energy saving kits available so the charity is urging that eligible residents contact them as soon as possible to book their appointment.
Appointments to have the equipment installed can be booked by calling the charity’s Darlington office on 01325 362832.
