OVER 250 Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College students attended a lecture by Darlington born Professor Adrian Raine, the host of the recent Channel 4 series, 'What Makes a Murderer'.

The programme uses ground-breaking psychological investigations to determine whether convicted murderers had control over their actions.

During the lecture Professor Raine spoke about his career as a world renowned neurocriminologist, a sub-discipline of biocriminology and criminology, and how he became a leading figure in the research of the cognitive functions of violent criminals.

Students were then able to discuss Professor Raine's work in more detail through an interactive session, which provided them with valuable information from one of the key researches in their A level Psychology course.

Josh Cela, a second year student at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College said: "The event was very insightful and informative, and links well to the syllabus for our upcoming A level exams."

Ed Nolan, teacher of Psychology, added: "We were honoured to welcome Professor Raine to the College and our students have really benefitted from his presentation. It was fascinating to hear how he went from growing up on Abbey Road in Darlington to being a key component of our A level psychology specification.
