A NURSERY has doubled its charity target in a slime-filled event for Children in Need.

Andrea Pryor, manager at Little Lingfields Day Nursery in Lingfield Point, Darlington, took the plunge and nominated herself to be covered in slime yesterday to raise money for the children's charity - while the rest of its staff and children enjoyed a cake sale and tombola.

With an initial target of £200, word spread of the nursery's efforts throughout Lingfield Point's complex which brought a number of people along to watch and donate, meaning the total amount raised was around £400.

Ms Pryor said: "It went really well. The children had the opportunity of pouring slime onto myself which they really enjoyed.

"We had only set a target of £200 after last year when we raised just under that amount, so it’s a good feeling. We wanted to better what we did last year so it’s incredible that we raised the money that we have.

"We do Children in Need every year and we try to make it different each year. It is something quite close to us anyway with us being a nursery so we'd do anything for a good cause.

"We’re really going to have to up our game for next year."
