DARLINGTON will host League One opposition in the second round of the FA Cup if they can see off Walsall in next Wednesday’s first-round replay at Blackwell Meadows.

The winners of next week’s rematch, which will be screened live on BT Sport, will host Oxford United in round two, which will take place on the weekend of November 30.

If Darlington can make it to the second round, there is every chance to could have two televised games in succession, with Oxford currently sitting in fourth position in the League One table.

The Us dumped Sunderland out of the Carabao Cup at the fourth round stage last month, and booked their place in the second round of the FA Cup with a comfortable 2-0 win at Hayes & Yeading on Sunday.

Like Darlington, Sunderland need to win a replay to claim a place in round two, and if Phil Parkinson’s side can see off Gillingham at the second time of asking next week, they will host either AFC Wimbledon or Doncaster Rovers in the next round.

The League One sides played out a 1-1 draw at Wimbledon’s Kingsmeadow ground on Saturday, with the replay due to take place at Doncaster next Tuesday. Sunderland have already beaten AFC Wimbledon at the Stadium of Light in a league game this season.

Hartlepool United take on Yeovil in the first round tomorrow after Saturday’s game was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch. The winners of tomorrow’s game will travel to either Cambridge United or Exeter City in round two.
