GLORIOUS weather shone on more than 3,000 visitors as the ninth annual Hurworth Country Fair got underway at the weekend.
Fair rides, stalls, dancers, a Viking re-enactment troupe, a brass band, a Punch and Judy show, and pig racing were among the attractions on offer in the grounds of Hurworth Grange on Saturday.
And inside the Grange community centre there were about 70 handicraft and produce classes, with prizes for everything from cupcake decorating to photography, to flower arranging and vegetables. A dog show also proved popular, with prizes for the waggiest tail and the best child handler, among others, and there was dancing on the stage throughout the day from different troupes and groups.
Show founder Peter Allan, of the Hurworth Community Association, said: "We were blessed b good weather. It was a lovely day and we had more people on the field than I have ever seen before."
Sponsors included Rockliffe Hall, Dinsdale Golf Club, Drive Vauxhall and Teesside Airport.
