A TOWN’S very first drumming festival has proved a massive hit.
Darlington town centre was filled with rhythmic musicians when a number of performers played at four different venues.
Groups entertaining the crowds delivered a diverse showcase of their talents from around the world including a Colombian percussion workshop, African inspired Sankofa Beats, all-woman samba drumming band The Bangshees and Malay inspired Kayu Gangsa.
The festival also featured drum circles and workshops where audiences of all ages and skill levels could learn and try various drumming styles.
And young and old took full advantage of the chance to beat out a rhythm throughout the day-long event which took place in the Market Square, Northgate, in the shadow of Joseph Pease statue and the town’s Life Pulse sculpture.
