DARLINGTON’S friendly scheduled to be played at Halifax Town on Saturday has been switched to Blackwell Meadows.
There are problems with the pitch at the Shay, and Halifax have had to switch tonight’s scheduled game with Doncaster Rovers to the League One club’s training ground.
A Halifax statement on Monday read: “At 1pm today the club was notified by Calderdale Council that the pitch is not fit to be played on.
“Subsequently a soil specialist has been called in to mitigate any potential serious problems with the grass and work with the Council to provide a longer-term solution.”
Kick-off on Saturday at Blackwell will be 3pm with admission £8 adults, £5 concessions, £5 for under 18s, and free for under 11s.
Darlington played their third pre-season friendly on Monday evening, winning 4-1 at Bishop Auckland with goals by Jamie Holmes (2) and trialist Lucas Bell (2).
