DARLINGTON will renew acquaintances with former Quakers Nathan Cartman and Dave Syers on the first day of the season having been paired with Farsley Celtic.

Alun Armstrong’s reign will start on August 3 with a fixture at Farsley, who were promoted last season from the Northern Premier League.

Darlington have twice been to Farsley and lost on both occasions, 4-2 early in 2013-14, and 3-2 towards the end of the title-winning 2015-16 season.

It is the fourth time in five seasons Darlington have been away on the opening day, though 12 months ago they started the campaign at Blackwell Meadows and lost to Curzon Ashton.

The first midweek of the season sees newly-relegated Gateshead visit Blackwell, while Darlington face Spennymoor Town twice at Christmas.

Quakers host Town on Boxing Day, and go to the Brewery Field on New Year’s Day.

August 31 sees Darlington travel to King’s Lynn Town in Norfolk, and seven days later they have another long-distance trip with Gloucester City the destination.

The season concludes with a home game against King’s Lynn Town.
