A NEW general manager has been appointed at Vue cinema in Darlington.

Chris Collier now heads up the 50-strong team in the cinema, within the town’s Feethams leisure complex.

He has joined from Vue in Hartlepool where he was manager for more than six years.

Mr Collier, who is originally from Thornaby, has worked in the industry in both Australia and the UK for more than 23 years.

He said: “I’m a huge film buff and love the experience of watching films on the big screen.

“There are lots of fantastic films being released in the coming months including Men in Black: International, Toy Story 4 and Spider-Man: Far From Home

“I’m very excited for a summer of amazing blockbusters and look forward to welcoming lots more customers eager to see the latest movies in our superbly comfortable screens. We’ve also just launched senior club screenings for those over 60, which includes a cuppa and a biscuit with the ticket price.”

Vue Darlington, which has seen more than one million visitors pass through its doors since opening almost three years ago is one of 22 Vue cinemas across the country to reduce ticket prices to £4.99.

It welcomed its millionth admission in January as it revealed that visitors had consumed 150,000 litres of Tango Ice Blast since it opened – enough to fuel a Boeing 747 once around the world.

It had also sold a massive seven tonnes of Pick ‘n’ Mix sweets.
