DARLINGTON College is hosting a higher education event designed to help students secure the skills they will need to boost future prosperity in the Tees Valley.

The site will offer an insight into how people can improve their existing qualifications, gain new ones, retrain and fit their studies around their lives. The event is also open to employers who will be able to find out about training opportunities and ways to improve workforce skills.

The Higher Education and Higher Skills event will take place at Darlington College on June 10 from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. Expert staff from Darlington College will be joined by colleagues from Teesside University which operates a business partnership in the town.

Full and part-time HE courses, at Level 4 and above, range from accounting, business management, human resources, art and design, health and childcare and journalism to procurement and supply, computing, construction and surveying, engineering, education, sport and public services.

The HE event will also offer the chance to discover more about the college’s facilities, including its outstanding childcare centre, counselling and support network, careers guidance, fees, finances, student loans and how to apply for courses.

Darlington College principal Kate Roe added: “We have been working hard to improve courses and facilities, to help people take their careers to the next level, improve job prospects or simply learn a new skill.

“Flexibility is key and many of our courses, designed with direct input from employers, are offered on a part-time basis and are designed to help fit studies around work."
