THE search for a North-East man who went missing in the Alps last Thursday has resumed this morning, with extra emergency service personnel drafted in to help.

Tree surgeon Jack Daykin was reported missing on Thursday night when he failed to reappear after going to look for his lost mobile phone in a gorge near the Koritnica River, in Slovenia.

A spokesman said: “The mountain unit is properly equipped with mountaineering equipment and trained to work in the most challenging conditions. A drone is also being used to help search the area.

“Police leaders have already presented the close family with details of all the previously performed and planned activities in relation to the search.”
