MOUNT Pleasant Primary School in Darlington is appealing for ex pupils and anyone with history of the school to come forwards as part of its 50th birthday year celebrations.

Originally opening in 1969,the school, which is based on Newton Lane in Darlington, now forms part of Lingfield Education Trust.

Head teacher Jo Blackham said: “2019 is an exciting year for us and we have lots of events planned to mark our 50th birthday, including a special celebration for our parents and children in June.

“We are currently researching Mount Pleasant’s history as we know that we’ve had generations of families come through the school in the past 50 years – it’s thought we have taught over 7000 pupils in that time. We would love to hear from anyone who has been a pupil here over the years or who might have any historic information about the school so we can collect stories for a community history exhibition later in the year.”
