AN AWARD-winning theatre production that has been touring the UK entertaining packed houses since 2017 is on its way to Darlington.

Juliet & Romeo will be performed as part of the town's Jabberwocky Market later this month, inviting audiences to take a different look at the ill-fated love story with a modern twist.

Ben Duke and Solène Weinachter play the leading roles, starring as a married couple with a daughter. However, with the bloom of romance fading, the star-crossed lovers seek marriage guidance counselling.

The Lost Dog production, which includes dance, music and humour, involves the audience as counsellors and tells the story of what might have happened if Shakespeare's tragic teenagers had survived.

The 75-minute show will go on stage on Saturday, April 20, in Darlington's Liddiard Theatre, Polam Hall, at 2pm and 8pm.

Juliet & Romeo is suitable for audiences aged 13 and over and tickets are £12 in advance or £10 concessions. Tickets at the door are £15.

The show was nominated for the Best Independent Company at the Critics’ Circle National Dance Awards 2018
