GLOBETROTTING students have experienced travel and tourism first hand by taking a mini-cruise to the Netherlands' capital, Amsterdam.

Fifteen teenagers studying at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College (QESFC), in Darlington, went on the trip which included two entertaining evenings on the ferry crossing the North Sea, interspersed with a short stay in the city.

The travel and tourism students received a guided tour of Amsterdam and were also given free time to explore and sample and shop for Dutch delicacies.

Julie Vickerman, travel and tourism tutor at QESFC who accompanied the students, said: "It was wonderful to be able to give the students the chance to visit a different country and experience travelling by ferry.

"They were a credit to the college and thoroughly enjoyed themselves; two students have already booked a return trip this summer."

While on board the ferry, the students played bingo, won a music quiz and enjoyed dancing to a live band. They also posed for photos with the ferry's captain.
