A TALENTED young photographer has been rewarded for her efforts after her image was selected as the overall winner of the My Darlington Rotary Calendar photographic competition.
Laurie Nicholson snapped an image of the Darlington Brick Train sculpture at night, which was used on the front cover of the calendar.
At a recent meeting of the Darlington Rotary Club, Darlington College student Laurie was presented with a cheque for £100 by president Paul Robinson.
Darlington College tutor Eric Walsh thanked the club for the opportunity granted to students to experience a the pressures of working for a client on a professional job. The work could also be contributed towards their portfolio.
Sales of the calendar, which was sponsored by the members of Darlington Building Society, raised more than £800.
The money will be used to support charities across the Darlington borough.
Talented Laurie has also been offered a place to study graphic design and illustration at The Northern School of Art, in Hartlepool, in her first steps towards a creative career.
