A NUMBER of events will be held in a town centre next month to celebrate St Valentine's Day.

To celebrate Valentine’s Day in the Cornmill Centre, Age UK North Yorkshire and Darlington Ukulele Band will be performing ‘Love is in the Air’ in the main atrium of the shopping centre from 2pm.

Little Experts’ from the Cornmill’s Kids Club will be kindly giving away Valentine’s chocolates in the Cornmill to visitors from 11am on Saturday, February 9.

Early February sees an evening of magic at the Harry Potter Night take place on Thursday, February 7 between 3.45pm and 5.45pm at Crown Street Library.

Young Potter fans will have the chance to learn about all the different birds which were involved in the films.

Cllr Chris McEwan, deputy leader of the council and Darlington Council’s cabinet member for economy and regeneration, said: “This is only the start of a month of events which will make February fabulous in Darlington.

“Our town centre partnership and events team is working hard with local retailers to make sure that there is an exciting line up of events."
