A PAIR of kind-hearted youngsters are hoping to rally their community spirit and raise vital funds to support homeless people.

Evelyn, 8, and her four-year-old brother Felix, will be setting up stall on their drive with cakes, mince pies and mulled wine to tempt villagers in Hurworth Place to show their festive spirit.

Mum Helen Bethell said: "My son and daughter both wanted to raise money for the homeless, particularly Evie, who always asks what she can do to help people living on the streets.

"Evie held a similar fundraiser in the summer and raised £300 after she was inspired to help the people affected in the Grenfell Tower disaster and I was so proud that she wants to continue with her fundraising efforts.

"Hopefully, we will they will be able to raise even more money this time."

The fundraising youngsters have managed to secure 260 mince pies from Aldi, two bottles of mulled wine from Morrisons, some gift vouchers from Sainsbury's and Tesco which they are going to use to buy more mulled wine, paper cups from Costa and napkins from Wilkinsons.

Mrs Bethell added: "Hopefully, the community will come out again and support them to raise money for Shelter. It sounds like the weather is going to be a bit cold on Sunday but that won't deter them from their getting out onto the drive and selling all the mince pies and mulled wine."

The fundraising youngsters' stall will open for business on 36 Manor Road for business at 4pm tomorrow afternoon with all the money raised going to Shelter, a charity which campaigns to end homelessness and bad housing.
