THE poignant stories of 32 soldiers from one Darlington community will be told this weekend as part of the commemoration of 100 years since World War One ended.

The exhibition following the lives of men from the Haughton parish called up to serve their country has been pieced together by Carol Atkinson.

Ms Atkinson, who leads the Haughton Historical Society, has collated memorabilia to go on display from Friday, November 9.

Year 10 art students from nearby Haughton Academy have also produced artwork to complement poppies knitted by members of the community.

The exhibition will run in Haughton Methodist Church alongside its monthly coffee morning, which will feature a range of stalls including a cake stall and bring-and-buy stall.

The coffee morning will be held between 10am and 11.30am on Saturday, November 10.

The free exhibition will run inside the chapel from November 9 to November 13, between 10am and 2pm.

Entry will run until 4pm on Sunday, November 11.
