CHILDREN from schools across Darlington contributed to the creation of an eye-catching display of poppies.
A cascade of vibrant poppies flows from the exterior of Cockerton's Whitehouse Funeral Service in tribute to those who lost their lives to war.
Staff at the business sent poppy templates to St Mary's, Holy Family, Mount Pleasant, Reid Street and Abbey schools and asked youngsters to decorate them as they wished before returning them to be displayed.
Julie Whitehouse said: "We have had so many lovely comments and even had members of the public coming into our reception to talk about it.
"It has created a lovely sense of community, too.
"Schools have brought children round to see the display and we arranged for a veteran we know, Mick Watson, to display his medals and chat to them.
"It's taken a lot of hard work but has been well worth it."
