Remembrance events are taking place across the region this weekend. Here are all the times, places and information you need to plan your day.

COUNTY DURHAM

BARNARD CASTLE: Sunday, 10.45am, St Mary's Parish Church, the parade will go from the church down Newgate to the war memorial in the grounds of the Bowes Museum for a further Act of Remembrance and laying of wreaths at 11.50am, there are events throughout the day at The Bowes Museum, Witham Hall and Barnard Castle School, local choirs will perform in the Methodist Church at Scar Top from 5:45 pm and a beacon will be lit from the Castle walls at 7:00 pm.

BEAMISH: Sunday, 1pm Reverend John Lintern will hold a Service of Remembrance at the Beamish Commemorative Stone, Station Road, Beamish.

BELMONT: Sunday, 10am at St Mary Magdalene Church. Light refreshments will follow the service at Belmont Parish Hall.

BISHOP AUCKLAND: Saturday, 10am and Sunday 11:30am at The Church of St Helen. Candles will burn in church for 24 hours over the weekend to mark the centenary of the First World War armistice.

BLACKHALL COLLIERY: Sunday 10.45, meet at Blackhall Welfare Park gates for a service at the Memorial at 10.50am.

BOWBURN: Sunday 10.30am, assemble in the car park of Christ the King Church, DH6 5DL, Bowburn for a service marking the day.

CATCHGATE: Sunday, 6.45 at Catchgate Village Green for a Nations Tribute Service.

CONSETT: Service at Christ Church, 9.45am, followed by parade from Parliament Street at about 10.40am to the war memorial in Medomsley Road for wreath-laying at 11am.

COUNDON: Sunday, 10am at St James’ Church followed by the procession to the War Memorial at the junction of Collingwood Street and Wharton Street. A placement of wreaths will take place at 11am.

COXHOE: Sunday, 11am at the War Memorial and Coxhoe Village Hall.

COXHOE: Sunday, 6:30pm A Nation's Tribute and World War 1 Beacons of Light at Coxhoe Village Green.

DARLINGTON: Sunday, 10am a service will begin at the Holy Trinity Church, in Woodland Road. The service will be followed by a parade, which will form up alongside the church grounds in Vane Terrace. The parade will then set off at 10.45am and make its way to the Cenotaph in the grounds of Darlington Memorial Hospital.

DARLINGTON: Sunday 2.30pm at West Cemetery for The Royal British Legion annual wreath-laying ceremony.

DARLINGTON: Sunday 7pm at Bondgate Methodist Church for a WW1 commemoration concert.

DURHAM CITY: Sunday, 10.15am at Durham Cathedral for a war service. At the end of the service the Vice-Chancellor/Pro-Vice-Chancellor alongside HM Lord Lieutenant and representatives from the region will lay wreaths at the war memorial in the Cathedral.

DURHAM CITY: Sunday, 10.45am a service will be held at Leadgate War Memorial.

EGGLESTON: Sunday, 10.30am for a service of Remembrance at Holy Trinity followed by a wreath laying at the Parish War Memorial. The church will be open all day for private prayer and reflection.

FERRYHILL: Sunday, 6.40pm at St. Luke’s Church, followed by a speech by the town’s Mayor, Councillor David Farry. The Mayor will then light Ferryhill’s beacon at 7pm.

HAMSTERLEY: A service will take place on Sunday, 11.15am at Christ Church in Low Westwood.

HESLEDEN VILLAGE: Sunday, 10.50am at Hesleden Methodist Chapel, at Hesleden Memorial within the cemetery.

HORDEN: Sunday, 10.40am parade leaves Horden Social Welfare Centre for march to cenotaph in Memorial Park for an act of Remembrance at 10.55am, followed by Last Post and laying of wreaths. A service will be held at St Mary’s Church at noon.

HOUGHTON: Sunday at 10.30am at the Houghton Methodist Church to commemorate the centenary of the end of World War One. The church will be open to all to view and reflect on a poppy display from 10am to 12 noon from November 5.

HOUGHTON-LE-SPRING: Sunday, parade assembles from 9am on the A182 alongside new Lidl store, led by Houghton Brass Band at 9.45am to St Michael and All Angels’ Parish Church, ahead of 10am Remembrance Service, which concludes with the laying of wreaths and two minutes silence, outside, at cenotaph, at 11am.

MEDOMSLEY: Sunday, 10am a Remembrance Service will take place at St. Mary Magdalene Parish Church. The service will be followed by refreshments at Bishop Ian Ramsey C.E. Primary School in Consett.

MUGGLESWICK: Sunday, 3.00pm a Remembrance Service will be held in All Saints Church, to commemorate all those who served in the Parish in World War 1 followed by a war themed tea in the Parish Hall, run by Muggleswick Parish Community Association.

NEWTON AYCLIFFE: Sunday 10.45am, march from Barnard Armoury to St Claire Church.

NEWTON AYCLIFFE: Sunday, 12 noon Remembrance Service in St Claire Church followed by a march past Stephenson Way.

PETERLEE: Sunday, 10.30am gather at Peterlee Central Club in Surtees Road leaving 10.40am for parade to cenotaph at St Cuthbert’s church in manor Way for an 11am service.

QUARRINGTON HILL: Friday, 11am for a Remembrance Day Event at Quarrington Hill War Memorial, Quarrington Hill Community Centre.

SEAHAM: Sunday, 10.40am parade meets at Londonderry statue next to Terrace Green at 10.30, with parade to cenotaph for 11am service and wreath-laying.

SEDGEFIELD: Sunday, 10am Remembrance Sunday Service in St Edmund's Church followed by a short out-door service and laying of wreaths at the town's war memorial.

SHERBURN VILLAGE: The service will take place at the War Memorial on Sunday at 10.40am.

SHILDON: Sunday, 10.30am for a Remembrance Service at the Cenotaph.

SHINCLIFFE: Friday, Shincliffe CE Primary School will hold a community worship service at 10am. All are welcome.

SPENNYMOOR: Sunday, 10am a Remembrance Service and parade will be held at Spennymoor Town Hall.

STANLEY: Sunday, 6.45pm at Stanley Front Street a beacon will be lit by the town council to mark Remembrance Sunday.

TRIMDON: Commemorative Service at the War Memorial located at Trimdon Grange Cemetery on Sunday, 2pm.

WEST AUCKLAND: Sunday, 3pm Remembrance service at The Pant on the village green followed by refreshments at the Community Parish Room, Monteith Close.

WEST RAINTON: Sunday, 10:45am a service will be held at St Mary's Parish Church in West Rainton.

WHEATLEY HILL: Sunday, 10.15am parade meets at Patton Walk and arrives at All Saints’ Church at 10.40am. ahead of 10.45am service. Afterwards, parade to Wheatley Hill Cemetery for 11.40am Remembrance Day ceremony including the laying of 22 poppy wreaths and Last Post.

WHITWORTH: Sunday, 10.20am, Whitworth residents will commemorate the centenary of the end of the First World War at Whitworth Memorial Gardens on Market Street.

WILLINGTON: Sunday, 3pm, a Remembrance Service at Willington War Memorial will take place on the A690 followed by a parade to St Stephens Church, Low Willington.

WINGATE: Sunday, assemble at Wingate’s constitutional club at 12 noon to commemorate Remembrance Day.
 

TYNE AND WEAR

BIRTLEY: Assemble at Birtley Cenotaph at 6.45pm on Friday 9 for a short wreath-laying ceremony.

BIRTLEY: Sunday at the Birtley Cenotaph for 10.45am for a service and a wreath-laying ceremony. Please note that the Cenotaph gates will be closed at 4.30pm.

BLAYDON: Sunday at St Cuthbert's Church. Service starts 10.15am followed by service at the War Memorial at 12 noon.

CROOKHILL: Friday 9, at 10.30am, the public should meet at Crookhill School to walk with classes to the War Memorial for a wreath-laying ceremony and prayers.

GATESHEAD: Sunday, 10.45 at the Gateshead Centre Cenotaph, Prince Consort Road. The service will be followed by a wreath laying ceremony and a march.

GATESHEAD: Organised by the Durham Light Infantry Association, A service will start at 10.45am on Friday 9 at the DLI Memorial.

GATESHEAD: Sunday 2.45pm at the Town Square opposite House of Fraser for a service and wreath-laying ceremony at 3pm. A choir will be singing from 2.30pm.

GREENSIDE: Saturday, 10.45am at the War memorial followed by a wreath-laying ceremony.

NEWCASTLE: Sunday, 10.30am, assemble at the Main Hall.

Royal Grammar School. Eskdale Terrace, Jesmond for a Remembrance Service.

Refreshments will be served after the service.

SUNDERLAND: Sunday, Remembrance Parade and Service starting at 10.15 am.
 

NORTH YORKSHIRE

ARKENGARTHDALE: Sunday, 10.50am, service and laying of wreaths.

ASKRIGG: Sunday, 10.30am, St Oswald’s Church, service followed by afternoon tea from 4pm to 5.15 and vigil at the cross at 6.30pm.

AYSGARTH: Sunday, 10.30am, Aysgarth Church, there will be a time of quiet contemplation from 5pm to 6pm, a First World War concert will be held at the church Saturday November 11 from 2pm, there will also be a Remembrance flower festival from 10am to 1.30pm on the Saturday, from 12.30pm to 5pm on the Sunday.

BEDALE: Sunday, St Gregory’s, church bells will ring to commemorate the Centenary of the ending of the First World War, the bells will be raised in readiness on Saturday evening but will remain silent to reflect the silencing of the guns, the silence will be broken at 12.30pm.

BROMPTON: Sunday, St Thomas’ Church, there will be holy communion at 8am and Remembrance Day service at 4pm, led by Rev Jonathan Cooper.

BROMPTION: Sunday, 10am, Brompton Methodist Church, the service will be led by Lesley Bustard followed by a parade to the Lych Gate for one minute’s silence at 11am.

CRAKEHALL: Sunday, 10.45am, St Gregory’s Church.

EAST WITTON: Sunday, 10.50am, St John’s Church.

GREAT AYTON: Sunday, 10.40am, Christ Church, Act of Remembrance will be held at the War Memorial and in the church, a “Battle’s Over” remembrance will be held on the High Green at 7pm.

GREWELTHORPE: Sunday, 10.45am, St James’ Church, the Grewelthorpe branch of the Royal British Legion will parade its standard into St James’ Church for the service, legion members are requested to assemble at the church gate at 10.30am, the minute’s silence will be at 11am.

HAWES: Sunday, 10.15am, Hawes Parish Church, service accompanied by Hawes Silver Band.

INGLEBY ARNCLIFFE AND CROSS: Sunday, 9am, All Saint’s Church, the Act of Remembrance will be at 10am at the war memorial, Ingleby Cross, collections from both services will be donated to the Royal British Legion, villagers have been crocheting poppies which will be attached to a waterfall displayed at the Blue Bell Inn, there will also be a 6ft There But Not There statue of a Tommy near the cross, hot and cold refreshments will be available to buy, volunteers needed to help with refreshments and clearing up, call 882 586.

LEYBURN: Sunday, 10.45am, Market Square and Cenotaph.

LOW ROW & MUKER: Sunday, 10.50am, Remembrance service at Low Row.

NORTHALLERTON: Sunday, 10.45am, Remembrance parade of veterans at War Memorial, preceded by bell ringing 10am to 10.30am.

REETH: Sunday, 10.50am, The Green, the Swaledale parade will leave the green at 2pm for a service of Remembrance at St Andrew’s, Grinton, at 2.30pm, the service will be followed by tea in the memorial hall at 4pm, a bus will be provided for the return journey as there will be no march back this year.

RICHMOND: Sunday, 9.30am, Richmond Remembrance Parade, the parade will start at the Town Hall, will reach St Mary’s church at 10am and Friary Gardens memorial at 11 am, the Service of the Crosses will be incorporated with the main service at the Friary Gardens memorial, the laying of crosses following immediately after the wreath laying, there will be Reflections at Dusk in the Castle Bailey and a cry by the Town Crier in the Market Place at 7.05pm after which the church bells will ring out.

SAWLEY: Sunday, 11am, Memorial at Picking Gill, Moor Lane.

SEAMER: Sunday, 10.30am, the Memorial (village) Hall, the service will be led by Rev Lisa Quarmby and Ron Kirk, it will include the dedication of the memorial benches, garden and knitted poppies followed by a buffet lunch.

SOWERBY: Sunday, 10.00am, St Oswald’s, Act of Remembrance at War Memorial at 10.50am.

STOKESLEY: Sunday, 9.30am, Stokesley Parish Church, service will be followed by parade to West Green War Memorial for two minutes’ silence at 11am.

THORNTON STEWARD: Sunday, 10.50am, St Oswald’s Church.

WEST TANFIELD: Sunday, 10.45am, St Nicholas Church, a list of the Fallen from the region will be read, at 6.55pm The Last Post will sound from the roof of the church bell tower and a beacon will be lit at 7pm in the field over the bridge.

WHITBY: Sunday, 10am, Whitby town centre, the service will start with music and readings of First World War poems, veterans and serving members of the Armed Forces will march on to Dock End for the service at 10.30am.
 

TEESSIDE

BILLINGHAM: Sunday, the parade will gather in the Salutation Pub car park between 10am and 10.15am, it will reach the Garden of Remembrance on Station Road at 10.30am, the service will begin at 11am.

BOOSBECK: Sunday, 2.30pm, War Memorial, Act of Remembrance followed by a service at St Aidan’s Parish Church at 3pm, a service will also be held at Lockwood Primary School Cenotaph on Monday November 12, 10.45am.

BROTTON: Sunday, 9.45am, St Margaret’s Church, followed by procession to the war memorial for Act of Remembrance and wreath laying ceremony at 10.50am.

CARLIN HOW: Sunday, 11.45am, War Memorial, service of Remembrance and wreath laying ceremony.

DORMANSTOWN: Sunday, 10.30am, All Saints Church, Remembrance Service followed by wreath laying ceremony at the war memorial, an evening service will take place at Ennis Square Social Club at 5.30pm, followed by a Social Evening at 7pm.

EASINGTON: Sunday, 9am, All Saints Church, followed by Service of Remembrance and wreath laying ceremony at the War Memorial at 9.45am.

EGGLESCLIFFE: Sunday, 10am, St John the Baptist Parish Church, the service will be followed by a procession to Egglescliffe War Memorial at 10.55am for a short service and wreath laying.

ESTON: Sunday, 10.45am, Eston Square, the parade will leave the California Youth Centre at 10.30am, anyone wishing the join the parade should be outside the centre at 10.15am.

GRANGETOWN: Sunday, 9.30am, St Hilda’s Church, followed by Act of Remembrance and wreath laying ceremony at the War Memorial at 11am.

GUISBOROUGH: Sunday, 10.30am, parade forms up in Westgate (starting between Westgate Road and New Road) for march at 10.45am to the War Memorial for dedication and wreath laying, followed by a service in St Nicholas’ Church.

HARTLEPOOL: Sunday, 11am, Victory Square, a parade will leave the Market Square, off York Road, at 10.45am, the service will be conducted by the Reverend Norman Shave of Stranton Church, following the service there will be a march past and a salute of the cenotaph.

HARTLEPOOL: Sunday, 11am, Headland, a parade by the Boys Brigade Band will leave Church Walk at 10.45am and proceed to the Headland War Memorial via Prissick Street and Cliff Terrace, the service will be led by the Civic Chaplain the Reverend Verity Brown of St Hilda’s Church, following the service the parade will march past and salute the memorial.

HARTLEPOOL: Sunday, there will be two evening commemorations on the Town Moor on the Headland and at Seaton Carew on the prom, the Armistice ceremonies will involve lighting of beacons in Remembrance, the Headland ceremony will begin with a parade from Heugh Battery Museum at 6.15pm and the beacon will be lit at 7pm, the Seaton Carew ceremony will begin at 6.50pm and the beacon will be lit at 7pm, both ceremonies will finish around 7.30pm.

INGLEBY BARWICK: Sunday, 10am, St Francis of Assisi Church, the service will be followed by a walk to the War Memorial for a short service and the laying of wreaths at 11am.

KIRKLEVINGTON: Sunday, 10.30am, The Church of St Martin and St Hilary, Forest Lane, the service will be followed by the laying of wreaths at 11am.

LAZENBY: Sunday, 11am, St Cuthbert’s Parish Church, followed by Service of Remembrance and wreath laying ceremony at the War Memorial at 12pm.

LINGDALE: Sunday, 1.45pm, the War Memorial, Act of Remembrance and wreath laying ceremony.

LOFTUS: Sunday, 9am, St Leonard’s Parish Church, followed by a parade from Loftus Town Hall at 10.50am to the War Memorial for a Service of Remembrance and wreath laying ceremony.

MARSKE: Sunday, 9.30am, Meadow Road, parade led by Marske Brass Band to St Mark’s Church for the 10am Service, followed by a wreath laying ceremony and Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial.

MOORSHOLM: Sunday, 8.45am, the War Memorial, an Act of Remembrance and wreath laying ceremony.

MIDDLESBROUGH: Sunday, as in previous years the Civic Party will march to the Cenotaph, the parade will form up at 10.30am ready to march to the Cenotaph for the service.

NEW MARSKE: Sunday, 3pm, St. Thomas Church, remembrance Service followed by wreath laying ceremony.

NORMANBY: Sunday, 10.40am, the Parade will form up at the Parklands Car Park to march to the War Memorial at Smiths Dock Park for Service and wreath laying ceremony at 10.45am.

NORTH SKELTON: Sunday, 1pm, War Memorial, act of Remembrance and wreath laying ceremony.

ORMESBY: Sunday, 11am, St Cuthbert’s Church, the church will remain open all day for people to go inside for a moment of peace and remembrance.

PORT CLARENCE: Sunday, 2.30pm, the Cenotaph.

PRESTON-ON-TEES: Sunday, 9.45am, All Saints Church, the service will be followed by a parade which will make its way to the Cenotaph on Victoria Road to lay wreaths at 11am.

REDCAR: Friday November 9, 10am, Sir William Turner lecture theatre, Redcar & Cleveland College, ceremony to remember the Old Boys of Sir William Turner’s school who died in the First and Second World War, the service will be followed by a parade to the Celtic Cross Memorial on Corporation Road at 11am, followed by the Last Post and laying of wreaths.

REDCAR: Sunday, 10.45am, the Redcar Branch of the Royal British Legion will hold its Annual Remembrance Day Parade and Service, the Parade will form up on Peirson Street (behind the Coatham Social Club) and will march along Lobster Road, then onto Coatham Road for the Remembrance Service and wreath laying ceremony at the Cenotaph on Coatham Road. The Cleveland Police Band will be playing at the Cenotaph. After the Service the Parade will reform in Clifford Street for the march past and salute.

SALTBURN: Sunday, 9.30am, Emmanuel Church, service followed by a Parade to the War Memorial for Act of Remembrance and wreath laying ceremony.

SKELTON: Sunday, 10am, All Saints Parish Church, service followed by a wreath laying ceremony at the War Memorial.

SKINNINGROVE: Sunday, 12.15pm, War Memorial, service of Remembrance and wreath laying ceremony, there will be a service at Skinningrove Methodist Chapel at 6pm.

SOUTH BANK: Sunday, 9.30am, St John’s Parish Church, followed by Service of Remembrance and wreath laying ceremony at the War Memorial, King George’s Square at 10.45am.

STILLINGTON: Sunday, 12pm, Stillington Cenotaph, Messines Lane.

STOCKTON: Sunday, 9.30am, Stockton Parish Church, a parade will march up the High Street at 10.35am, it will arrive at the Cenotaph for an outside service at 10.45am, the Mayor of Stockton-on-Tees, Councillor Eileen Johnson, will lay a wreath on behalf of the council.

TEESVILLE: Saturday November 10am, Eston Cemetary (next to the war graves), service and wreath laying ceremony.

THORNABY: Sunday, parade at 10.30am, St Patrick’s Social Club, the Remembrance service will begin at the Cenotaph at 10.45am where the Deputy Mayor, Councillor Lynn Hall, will lay a wreath, those taking part in the parade will assemble in the car park near St Patrick’s Social Club at 10am.

WOLVISTON: Sunday, 10.15am, St Peter’s Church, the service will be followed by a procession to the War Memorial for the laying of the wreath at 10.45am.

YARM: Sunday, 9.30am, the Parish Church, the service will be followed by a procession along West Street, Bridge Street, and the High Street for a short service, Roll of Honour at wreath laying ceremony at the War Memorial, 10.50am, the service at the memorial will be followed by a procession along the High Street.
