A SHOW'S success is helping to fund research into type one diabetes.

Darlington playwright and performer Jade Byrne took her show Pricks to Edinburgh earlier this year and raised £842.56 for the JDRF diabetes charity in the process.

The show, which uses her own experiences of living with diabetes to raise awareness, is now on tour throughout the UK.

Ms Byrne said: "I was overwhelmed with the response from the Edinburgh run. I was inundated with gorgeous comments and reviews were beautiful.

"I was thrilled to raise money for JDRF too, it's a charity close to my heart.

"The tour bookings are exactly what Pricks needs - I am so excited to be educating people through entertainment about chronic illness and its effects."

Pricks will be staged at Darlington's Pennyweight pub on November 22 and November 25. The first show is sold out but tickets are available for the second. For information, email prickstheplay@gmail.com.
