A FARMING roadshow visited a town centre encouraging people to support British wool trade.

In celebration of British Wool Week, The Woolly Roadshow showcased two rare Wensleydale sheep in Darlington town centre.

Tour founder, David Griffiths said: “We have brought the sheep today from a local farm because we’re urging people not to write-off British wool.

“People have said for years wool is only good if it’s from the southern hemisphere, but we want to change that because it’s not true and people have forgotten about British wool.”

The event allowed shoppers to ask questions about the trade and interact with the animals.

The sheep came from Anna Pennell, who runs Todd Fall Farm outside Heighington.

She said: “Great British wool is so important to us.

“We’re showing the public British sheep are valued and they need to be remembered for the quality of their wool.

“Bringing the sheep into the town centre is great because we need to bridge that gap between farmers and the public."

The tour will next visit Derby, Newport and London.
