THE A1(M) has reopened following a serious road accident which left it closed on Tuesday afternoon.
The road has now fully reopened between junctions 58 and 60.
The road has been closed throughout the afternoon as Highways England North-East confirmed investigation work was being carried out.
A diversion was in place and there were long delays.

"Motorists are advised to expect long delays whilst the emergency services attend the scene," Durham Police said.
A spokesperson for the Great North Air Ambulance Service said they were called to the scene at 11.15am.
