A SHOPPING centre in Darlington is welcoming school kids to carry out random acts of kindness.

The Cornmill Shopping Centre is inviting pupils from Corporation Road Primary School to give away a selection of books for both children and adults in conjunction with book store WH Smith.

In celebration of authors, illustrators, books and reading, shoppers and residents will be able to get their hands on a selection of free books from 9:30am until 10:30am.

Susan Young, centre manager at the Cornmill Centre, said: “The Cornmill Shopping Centre is delighted to be inviting Corporation Road Primary School back to the centre to be involved with another great scheme.

"We will be encouraging children and adults to explore the excitement of literature by providing them with the chance to get lost in a good book.”

Sophie Richardson from Corporation Road Primary School, said: “Random acts of kindness is a fantastic event for children at our primary school – it is a great opportunity for the children to engage with the public."
