DARLINGTON Cares is calling for eager volunteers to attend its second Volunteering Fair.

The fair, which will be held on Thursday, February 1 at The Dolphin Centre, will see more than 60 organisations from across the region exhibit at the event.

Those attending will include County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation, Dogs Trust Darlington and Firthmoor Community Centre, and all organisations will be encouraging keen volunteers to donate some of their spare time for a good cause.

Darlington Cares is hoping the event, which is being sponsored by Darlington Borough Council, County Durham Community Foundation and One Darlington, will break last year’s record of 150 and help recruit more than 200 volunteers.

Speaking about the event, Darlington Cares’ Programme Officer, Chelsea Johnson, said: “Volunteering can make such a difference to both the volunteer’s life and the lives of the people in our community.

“Anyone who is interested in finding out more about the volunteering opportunities which are available to them should attend the event. There will be lots of organisations exhibiting, who will all be offering a variety of roles so you are bound to find the right position for you.”

The Volunteering Fair is being held from 2pm to 6pm in The Dolphin Centre’s sports hall. Anyone who would like to find out more about the event or Darlington Cares, its projects and volunteering opportunities can email Chelsea.Johnson@darlington.gov.uk or visit www.darlingtoncares.co.uk.
