HELP me to help them, is the message from a student hoping to help impoverished communities in Ecuador.
Callum Blades will spend this summer in the Amazon, teaching English, digging wells and helping with construction work.
The 19-year-old - who recently won the Best of Darlington Contribution to Sports award - will take with him clothes and toys to help those living in poverty.
He is appealing for help in gathering items to take to the Amazon, where he will distribute them to the needy.
Northumbria University student Mr Blades said: “It’s humbling to think of how little these people have and how simple their lives are.
“I want to take gifts over that will make a world of difference, whether it’s a dress or a toy.”
