FOUR legged fundraisers are like dogs with two tails after trebling expectations on a charity walk.
Almost 380 dogs and their owners descended on South Park, Darlington, to help St Teresa’s Hospice raise much-needed funds recently.
Organisers hoped to raise around £3,000 but in a “phenomenal” effort, raised more than £9,000.
The charity’s chief executive Jane Bradshaw said: “The whole event was absolutely phenomenal and we’re staggered with the level of support.
“Owners had a great time and all of the dogs were well-behaved and loved it.”
The fundraising event provided a welcome boost for St Teresa’s, currently striving to raise the money to equip a new unit and cover their yearly £2.2m costs.
Mayor Tom Nutt handed over the cheque and said: “It’s great to see Darlington people and businesses support such a worthy cause.”
The event was supported by Pets at Home, Stanhope Park Veterinary Practice, the 1st Stop Party Shop and Darlington and District Scouts.
