A MAN was more than twice over the drink-drive limit after a session the previous night.
Christopher Morton, 29, of Abbey Road, Darlington, pleaded guilty to drink-driving at Darlington Magistrates' Court yesterday.
He was stopped while driving along Haughton Road in his Astra van at 3pm on Saturday, March 31. His reading was 79mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35mg. He had been drinking the previous night.
Magistrates' chairman Brian Avery said: "It was a high reading considering you had not been drinking in the morning."
Morton was fined £100, made to pay £43 costs, and disqualified from driving for 20 months. He pleaded not guilty to driving without insurance, and was given two weeks to produce documents.
