PEOPLE living in part of Darlington have asked the council to look into the state of the verges in their neighbourhood.
Residents have called for some of the grass verges in Cockerton West to be tarred because parked cars are blocking the roads.
Labour council candidates Jenny Chapman and David Regan are helping Branksome Residents' Association lobby the council for work to be done on the verges.
The affected roads include Winbourne Close, Finchale Crescent and Kirkstall Crescent.
Ms Chapman said: "It's getting very difficult to drive cars down there and there's no chance of getting an ambulance.
"People are being forced to park on the verges and they're getting all churned up. There needs to be a solution, I think some need to be tarmacced over so that people can park sensibly."
A council spokesman said: "We're grateful that this has been brought to our attention and we will be having a look into it."
