YOUNGSTERS from a tae kwon do club competed in a national event in Blackpool and won 38 medals.

The Oakley Cross Baekho Tae kwon do club, based at Oakley Cross Primary School, in West Auckland, took part in the event.

A total of 17 members took part in individual and team events, and enjoyed great success. The club trains at the school's sports hall under Jonathan Saunders.

Mr Saunders' wife, Lynn, who helps to run the club, said those who took part had been excellent ambassadors.

She said: "We set off at 6am on the coach and it was a long day. It was nice to see so many kids take part, and we were over the moon that so many won."

Anybody interested in joining the Oakley Cross Baekho Tae kwon do club is asked to contact Mrs Saunders on 01388-660854.
