TEACHERS cast aside their traditional image and became musical stars for a school contest.
Hundreds of students turned out to watch the annual Staff Idol contest, at Longfield School, in Darlington.
From Oasis and Christina Aguilera to Rod Stewart and the stars of Grease, staff performed to raise money for equipment.
GCSE dance students backed the 12 acts in front of an audience of 300.
It is the third year that the school has run the Staff Idol competition. It has raised more than £2,000 in the past.
Music teacher Simon Ferry said: "This has become a hugely popular event since we started doing it a couple of years ago.
"The tickets were bought up incredibly quickly and it gives the students a chance to see the staff in a whole new light."
