A FAMILY-run pub has won recognition for pulling the perfect pint of ale.

Landlord Matthew Baker and his parents, Steven and Valerie Baker, took over The King William IV pub in Barton, near Darlington, in January this year.

After running the pub for 16 weeks, they have been awarded a certificate of excellence by Enterprise Inns, which owns the pub.

Mr Baker said: “We put 100 per cent commitment into providing quality draft beer and that has gained us the award.”

The pub is one of only four of Enterprise Inns public houses in the North East to have received the certificate.

Alex Duncan, retail standards executive, and Tim Dryland, divisional director of Enterprise Inns, visited The King William IV to present the award.
